Journey to the Savage Planet is a (somewhat) less violent, more pleasant experience of discovery and journey. Obsidian’s thing is an RPG which closely parallels the wild west cinematic genre. Thankfully the games are different in application. It can’t have been easy for the developers of Journey to the Savage Planet to look back at their game and realise that they’d just thrown themselves into a direct comparison to Obsidian. Both feature a bitingly satirical view on capitalism run wild. The two play very differently, but in every other way they’re eerily similar: both feature bright, cartoonish visions of science fiction, and are gorgeous in their embrace of the surreal.

You’ll get another video message (with a much different tone than last time), a different Achievement or Trophy for return home after fully completing your mission, and the credits will roll.Īgain, though, you’ll have a save from just before you hit the launch button, so you’ll be able to return and continue exploring AR-Y26.No developer would ever admit to being annoyed that another developer got a game out first, but Journey to the Savage Planet’s developer must surely have seen the release of The Outer Worlds last year and groaned just a little. Once you’re done, return to the Javelin and hit the launch button. “Investigate the Tower” endingįor the second ending, you’ll have to complete both the “Investigate the Tower” and “Round Trip” missions. You’ll probably get ravaged on social media, too. You’ll get an Achievement or Trophy for return home without fully completing your mission, and a special video message. Once you’ve tagged at least five fuel sources, all that’s left to do is head back to the Javelin and hit the launch button.
Easy target journey to the savage planet upgrade#
You can even craft a Fuel Detector Visor upgrade once you complete the second set of Science Experiment side missions. You’re on your own to find the remaining four you need (out of a total of 10 scattered around the planet). You’ll be led to the first one as part of the game’s introduction. To get this ending, you have to find and tag a total of five fuel sources to refuel your Javelin for the return trip. Your boss is all the way back on Earth, and all you actually need to do to leave AR-Y26 and end the game is refuel your ship.

Journey to the Savage Planet will save just before you commit to an ending, so even if you finish the game with this option, you’ll be able to return to your save, and continue playing for the second ending. It doesn’t have to be the final decision you make (for reasons we’ll disclose at the top of the next section).

Go with your gutīefore we get into the specific endings, remember that there’s no right or wrong answer here. There are spoilers below, obviously, but we’ll try to avoid too many details.
